Five people have been nominated to join the Salt Lake Arts Academy Governing Board in August of 2017. Each of the nominees are parents of current and incoming students at SLArts, and when approved, will serve a three year term on the Governing Board. The current Board will vote on the incoming members at their Annual Retreat on June 16. The nominees are: Jennifer Goldman-Luthy, Alonzo Huntsman, Julie Livers, Michael Measom and Andy Yorkin. The slate of the entire 2017-18 Governing Board will be ratified by the school parent community at Back to School nights in September.

The Governing Board will hold it's last regular meeting of the school year on Friday, May 19 at school in Room 201. Among the Agenda items is the presentation of the 2017-18 Budget. "Elements I - Air and Light" Advanced Arts Performance is coming March 30 and 31! Air, light, space, sound, wind, luminescence, shadows, breath. "Elements I - Air and Light" is an interdisciplinary performance involving music, dance,drama and visual arts created by our Advanced Arts Students in 7th and 8th Grade. The production explores scientific concepts, artistic responses, visual metaphors and current events relating to this year's SLArts curricular theme of "Air and Light." We hope you will join us to see the remarkable work your students and our Arts team have created! We are offering three performances -- Thursday, March 30 at 1:30 and 7:00 p.m. and Friday, March 31 at 7 p.m. Tickets are free, but must be reserved!

We wish all our families and students a happy and safe summer break! The main school office will be open from 9 -3 during the month of June. Our After School Coordinator will be in the office until 5:30 each day until July 1. We will close for July, then open again on August 1 for more Summer@SLArts. The main office will re-open on August 8. Look for Back-To-School information in the mail in early August. HAGS!

The Governing Board will be postponing its annual retreat, and instead will hold a Voting Meeting on Friday, June 24, from 10 a.m - 11 a.m. at school. Listen to music performed by our 8th Graders, and enjoy a gorgeous Visual Arts Gallery Stroll in the Commons.
