Back to school is around the corner! Join us on August 14 between 7:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. in the Commons to wrap up your student's registration for the 18-19 school year. Save yourself time in line by paying any outstanding student fees online in Compass! SLArts' Governing Board will meet on Wednesday, June 13 to approve the school's budget for the 2018-19 school year and plan for the future. Click the headline for the agenda; location is still being confirmed, we will post as soon as arrangements have been finalized.

We are grateful for the parents and faculty members who have participated in our Strategic Planning process this spring. Your feedback and suggestions are helping guide the selection of a new school leader, upon Amy's retirement at the end of the 2018-18 school year. Attached is an Executive Summary of what the Strategic Planning surveys told us. In the short term, your suggestions are helping us plan programming now and in the immediate future. In the long term, your feedback will help us share our community values with a new leader and make sure our Governing Board hires someone who understand's SLArts' culture and can lead us into the future. Thank you for contributing your voice!

SLArts Community, today we are beginning to officially advertise for a new Principal / CAO, to replace Amy upon her retirement next summer, in June of 2019! We are posting this in many venues, including some national websites, to cast a wide net to recruit the very best leader we can for our school. Please feel free to share this with your contacts in the education field. As the posting states, appllcations should be sent to [email protected]. Our Governing Board chair, Scott Messersmith, will be heading up the search.

We are confident we will find a leader to nurture and guide SLArts into the future, and we appreciate your help in the process!

Summer plan, already? Yes, it's time to start thinking! We are offering some wonderful classes for young people this summer. Visit our Summer@SLArts pages to learn more - and remember, these are open to both SLArts and non-SLArts kids. Take a class with a friend, a cousin, or come learn what makes SLArts a special place!

Newly admitted and returning students will be receiving electronic information about Registering for the 2018-19 School Year the week of April 16. Check your email inboxes for instructions!

At their May meeting the Governing Board will be reviewing a proposed budget for the 2018-19 school year and will be hearing recommendations from the Future Planning Committee about the new Principal/CAO search. Thank you to our Parents, Alumni Families, Grandparents and Friends who helped us stage our very first solo crowdfunding event in March! The SLArts 7 raised over $32,000 for our school, to support our arts programming and purchase classroom resources. Thank you for believing in us, and helping us Build Creative Minds!
